Why use a garden designer?

If you are reading this then it might be that you have already decided that your garden needs changing and that you are seeking help. Garden designers fill the void between landscapers, gardeners, and landscape architects, and are the best professionals to go to when designing (mostly) residential spaces.

I have trained in a specific Garden Design degree to enable me to give a professional, knowledgable service as well as peace of mind to a client when taking their garden into my hands.

The experience and knowledge of a garden designer will likely save you money and time in the long term, as budgets are more easily monitored and adhered to, contact with landscapers and other contractors has already been established, and unnecessary mistakes avoided.

Moreover, a garden designer has the best grounding to create the garden you always dreamed of, that will stand the test of time.

What kind of gardens do you design?

A designer has the ability to bend their skills to match those of the client’s desires. That is, I adapt my designs to align with the garden style that is required. Generally speaking, a large country garden has a different style to that of an enclosed urban space, furthermore a garden design will change in response to that of its surroundings, client, size, outlook as well as many other factors.

That said, there are certain characteristics that I try to adhere to. I will always try to create the most sustainable and environmentally aware garden possible. There are obvious constraints to this ideal, namely cost, but wherever possible, positive ethical choices are made throughout the design process. Despite the environmental cost of hard landscaping in a garden, the introduction of a variety of plants that both benefit wildlife and biodiversity in a space often previously devoid of such assets generally brings about an overall positive impact on a new garden design.
