Country Space, Harrogate

Currently under construction

The concept for this design was centred around a problem with the existing layout. The existing space didn’t work for the client with not enough room allocated to parking, and an underused dining area located in the shadiest spot of the garden. The solution was clear: To borrow a little space from the existing garden, and removing an awkward low wall, gave the client plenty of manoeuvring space for cars. At the same time, a dining area was introduced into the garden, with a better aspect, allowing the client to enjoy meals in the sun.

All this was achieved with the re-shaping of an exist wall, from an angular formal arrangement, to a fluid curved form. Not only make better use of the space, but also matched the fluid garden borders and country garden style of the existing space.

It is intended that nearly all hard landscaping materials can be recycled from the existing site, making this a design with a very low carbon footprint, and much more sustainable than importing new materials.
